The Revenant - Rusty Hull
Work begins on painting the hull underlayers of the Wraithfleet ship.
I used a scorched brown base, then blended in ochres and oranges.
Some airbrushing, some layering by brush and very soft drybrushing.
Chestnut/sepia inks also handy for creating variables.

Wraithfleet Mortis Ship "The Revenant"
A project for an upcoming Age of Sigmar 'Firestorm' grand campaign.
This was a 3 day build. It uses a number of Games Workshop citadel kits.
Now to start painting, and breathe some 'unlife' into the cursed thing 💀

Dire Wolves
The vampire Countess Von Ravenstein rides out on the hunt with her pack of Dire Wolves. The wolves are constantly plagued by the large, vicious carrion crows that haunt the castle, that peck out their eyeballs and pick at their flesh when they are idle, sat by the portcullis kennels at the main gate... but the Direwolves need only the scent of living prey and they track it down tirelessly for their mistress.

Plague Marine Brother Ghosh
His name is Brother Ghosh, and after a hard days work
spreading the joyous word of Papa Nurgle,
he likes to enjoy a relaxing soak in a septic tank.

Plague Marine Brother Septimus
Brother Septimus enjoys his role as squad specialist. He may end up as a puddle of goo if his weapon malfunctions, but after every battle he is lovingly scooped up in a bucket by nurglings.. and within a few hours he has regenerated back to his old self.

Noxious Blightbringer Brother Spucus
Hearken to the pealing bells, for merry old Brother Spucus
brings a glorious bounty of noxious infections to bestow upon thee!
One of the new Warhammer 40k Death Guard Nurgle models.
Noxious Blightbringer armed with a cursed plague bell,
plasma pistol and a tocsin of misery. It's certainly got a lot
of character, and the details are incredible, kudos to the designer.
Having a lot of fun just mixing right off the palette and trying to
create some rich colours and effects to make the model interesting.

Foetid Bloat-drone
A very fun painting project for the Nurgle chaos marine faction.
Lots of interesting mechanical , gruesome details
and surface weathering using acrylics and oils.
'...a huge, buzzing machine held aloft by rusted turbines
– armed with plaguespitters and a plague probe.'
We nicknamed this monster 'Buzzz Blightfear'

Black Templar Intercessor Squad
Templar Primaris Intercessor Squad Heiden, ready for the crusade.
Lovely models to assemble and paint, more to come soon.
Lovely models to assemble and paint, more to come soon.
White Recipe:
Prime areas white. Paint white. Glaze lightly in all recesses with greys, then overlay with thin light sepia glazes from halfway down in around seven or eight layers, stronger to the bottom of the pads. Varnish seal work. Line out with mixed black/dark grey oil paint thinned with white spirit. You can also correct any sloppy glaze errors by modulating with sepia oil paints at the final stage if required, or add damage marks/grime as desired.
Black Recipe:
Spray primer black all over. Spray primer white *lightly* from above. With a light grey, VERY finely edge highlight most extreme angles, here and there as desired, very optional placement. Bring it all down again with black washes. Seal model with varnish. When completely dry and solid, work any areas that are still too light down into shadow using black oil paint, thinned with white spirits. This will also help line out all recesses even darker too. At this stage you can also add in colours to your remaining highlights above and shadows below with subtle purples, blues, umbers, whatever you feel like to modulate the look here and there. Pop edges as needed with light greys again, but again, optional and very subtle or it will botch the finish.
Most importantly: have fun experimenting with your own style and remember, the crusade is eternal.
